Akatsuki Returns: A Part III fan-fiction

LOL HI GUYS! I handed over God's Invasion to Madara, so I'm going to start up a new fan-fic! ^.^

This is a story set about five years after part two of Naruto- I hope you like it! CnCC is appreciated.

Chapter One


It was cloudy and raining in the Sound village. Just what Sasuke didn't want. He was sitting on a throne in the Otokage (i think that's the Sound village kage name) temple, bored as could be. After helping Naruto destroy the Akatsuki, he decided to rule the sound village, unbeknowst to the rest of the ninja world- but he had no idea how boring it would be.

"Welcome," Sasuke said to a man standing in front of him, "How may I help you?" He asked, frowning. Come on, make it simple...You're lost, and need directions. Please say that.

"Well...My son...was just kidnapped..." The man managed to say, through chokes and sobs. He was obviously upset- his entire body was trembling.

Sasuke's expression turned from a frown of boredom to a frown of concern. Looks like my easy day is over... "The missing person office is right across the street. You should go there." He said.

The man shivered, and looked away. "Th-this is serious... My kid is only four....They wouldn't help me..."

Sasuke scowled- the missing person office was getting incredibly unreliable. "Ah, the Five-or-older law...I need to get that removed. Anyway, looks like I'll be helping you find your kid." He said, smiling. "Description?"

"Th-Thank you so much! He's 4, so he's small, has blonde hair, purple eyes, had a red shirt on when he was taken away..." The man said, frowning.

"That's not very helpful, except for the eye color. Anything specific that can help us seperate him from everyone else?" Sasuke asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yes...He has a weird diamond-shaped marking on his forehead." The man said, motioning towards his forehead. "It's black, with a white dot in the middle."

"I understand. What's your name, and what's your kid's name?" Sasuke asked, standing up and adjusting his sleeves.

"I'm Arihiro Chizuka, and my son's name is Ukita Chizuka." Arihiro informed Sasuke.

"Right. Usually, I'd have you come along to help with the search, but I think your description is enough for me and a couple of people to do it ourselves." Sasuke said. "I'll assemble a group immediatly, and then go off to go find Ukita."

"Thank you again, Otokage-sama..." Arihiro said. "My wife died giving birth to him...If he had died, or was missing forever...I just...don't know what I'd do..."

Sasuke smiled, and patted Arihiro's shoulder. "Hey. We'll find him- trust me. Give us a week at most."

(outside the temple)

Sasuke groaned as soon as he left his temple- he had forgotten how hard it was raining. "Dang it." He muttered, as he walked through the village. After a few minutes, he found the home he was looking for. "Here we go..." He muttered, knocking on the door.

The door opened, and Karin stood in the doorway. "*gasp* SASUKE-KUN! Hi! How are you? Wanna get married? What's up?"

"...Hi, I'm fine, no, and I need your help." Sasuke said, fingering his sword habitually.

"Hmm? What do you need my help with?" Karin asked, adjusting her glasses.

"Well, we have a report of a missing kid. I need you to help me look for him." Sasuke explained.

"Great...That means you're getting Juugo and Suigetsu, doesn't it?"

"Indeed I am. Don't whine- I need a full squad."

"...Fine." Karin mumbled, looking away.

"Let's go look for the others." Sasuke said, spinning around.

"Right!" At least I get SOME time alone with Sasuke-kun...

"! Hey, Suigetsu!" Sasuke said, walking towards his watery friend.

Wow, those two seconds were fun... Karin thought, crossing her arms.

"Yo, Sasuke! What's up?" Suigetsu asked, grinning. "Darn it, you brought Karin along...." He muttered.

"We have a missing kid alert. Karin, go get Juugo." Sasuke said, eyes closing. Dang, what a mess this is turning in to...

(in Konoha)

Sakura shivered as she walked in a daze through the village. She had Naruto on her mind again.

Five years earlier, when Naruto was fighting the Akatsuki, Shino, Hinata, and Kiba were all killed. After the battle, Naruto said this;

"I'm still so weak...Three of my friends got killed...I won't ever let that happen again."

Of course, that meant that he left the village to train on Myokuzan mountain- and he wasn't back.

"Naruto....Come back...." Sakura whispered to herself, a tear escaping her eye. She didn't notice that Neji was standing in front of her, and she bumped into him.

"...! What the-? Sakura?" Neji asked, spinning around to face Sakura. He frowned, and waved a hand in front of her face, groaning when she didn't do anything. "In another one of your dazes, eh?" He asked. "-.- Say something."

"...Sorry...."

"Well, it's a start...Wake up, would you?" Neji asked, raising an eyebrow.

Sakura stared at Neji for a moment, and walked past him.

"Okay....Nice seeing you, I guess..." Neji muttered, rolling his eyes.

Sakura sighed, and sat down on a bench. Why she missed Naruto so bad was unknown to her.

(in the hokage office)

Tsunade turned, and watch Gaara enter her office. "Gaara. Welcome."

"Thank you, Hokage-sama. Listen- we've had odd reports of people disappearing lately. In the sound, sand, and rain villages, exactly 7 people have been either kidnapped or they disappeared." Gaara explained, sitting down in a chair.

"People are kidnapped all the time."

"This is different. All of the people who went missing were under 12, and they all had a marking on their foreheads. The most recent to disappear was in the sound village- Ukita Chizuka." Gaara said, frowning.

"What's so weird about that?" Tsunade asked.

"Well, all of the kids were connected- don't think it's weird that 7 kids, all with a marking on their forehead, went missing?" Gaara asked.

"...That is a little odd..." Tsunade said. "But what can we do about it?"

"I got a request from the Otokage to send four people to meet him and his team at the Hawk resturaunt in the Mist village in one week- apparently, the Otokage himself is searching for Ukita." Gaara said.

"Isn't the sound village our enemy? Besides, we don't even know who the Otokage is..... Anyway, I guess I'll go through with this. I assume you were given the same request?" Tsunade asked.

"Indeed I was." Gaara said. "That's why I'm not in Kage uniform. I suggest that you have Naruto, Sakura, and two other Konoha ninja join me."

"I can only send Sakura- Naruto left the village to train 5 years ago." Tsunade said. "And Sakura's sorta been an emotional wreck lately, so good luck getting her to join you."

"Hmm. Interesting. Well, I'll go look for Sakura. I assume I have your permission?"

"Yes."

"Good."

"And Gaara?"

"Yes?"

"...Good luck."

"Thank you." Gaara said. And then he was gone.

(back in Konoha)

Gaara sighed when he found Sakura. Actually, he had found Sakura 20 minutes ago- but she wasn't talking. "....Geez, Sakura, I know you're depressed, but..."

Neji frowned when he rounded a corner, seeing Gaara standing over Sakura. "Uh...What are you doing?"

Gaara scowled, and turned to face Neji. "I need to get 4 Leaf Ninja to come with me to visit the Otokage."

Neji raised an eyebrow, and scratched his head. "You need people...to go with you to see...the Sound village leader?"

"Yeah."

"...Are you feeling quite alright? The sound village, last time I checked, was our enemy." Neji said.

"It was, but now it's not." Gaara said, shrugging.

"Do you realize how stupid that mission is? I mean, you'll all probably get killed when you see whoever the Otokage is, it'll be a trecherous path to get wherever you're supposed to meet him/her, you'll be-"

"You wanna come, don't you?"

"So bad...>.<"

"Then come. Can you get two other people to come? The Otokage requested 4 Leaf ninja, and four sand ninja. I have four sand ninja, including myself." Gaara said, nodding slowly.

Neji nodded. "I can do that. Meet me back here in an hour."

"I'll be here." Gaara said, looking back at Sakura. "How do I snap her out of this?"

"I wish I knew. See ya later." Neji said, leaving.

"...Helpful...Geez, Naruto would-"

"NARUTO?! WHERE?!" Sakura shouted, looking around.

"-.- You've gotta be kidding." Gaara said, smacking his forehead.

"? Gaara? When'd you get here?" Sakura asked.

Gaara's eye twitched, and he sighed deeply to cool himself off. "Not too long ago. Look, I need four leaf ninja to join me and a few sand ninja to see the Otokage." He said, sitting down.

"The Otokage? You mean the sound village leader?" Sakura asked, frowning. "Why?"

"Well, there have been a bunch of kids going missing. All of them had markings on their foreheads." Gaara said.

"....Markings? Interesting...Okay, I'll come along." Sakura said, smiling. "Who else is coming?"

"Neji and whoever else he brings along." Gaara said.

"Got it. Let me go pack real quick." Sakura said, running off. Maybe Sasuke'll be there with the Otokage! And then...maybe he'll know where Naruto is! She thought, a huge smile growing.

(one hour later)

Gaara stared at the group of Leaf ninja, and nodded. The group was Sakura, Neji, Shikamaru, and Yamato. Not a bad team... Everyone here is incredibly bright, and has an ability that will make them useful if something goes wrong...

"Are we ready to go?" Yamato asked.

"Heck yeah!" Sakura said, grinning.

This is the happiest Sakura's been since Naruto left... Neji thought, smiling.

Gaara smiled. "Let's go, then." He said, turning, and walking out of the Konoha gate.

A group of eight. Gaara, Temari, Kankuro, Matsuri, Sakura, Neji, Shikamaru, and Yamato. All chunin or higher. All with strengths that outweigh and counter each other's weaknesses.

The ultimate team.

Only missing one thing.

Naruto Uzumaki.

Sasuke stared at the sky- it was still raining. The air was getting really humid, as well. But it wasn't that that was bugging him- it was an odd feeling he was having. He didn't know what it was, but it was giving him a head ache.

"Hey, Karin! You haven't said a word since we started walking! That's rare for you!" Suigetsu exclaimed.

Sasuke's eye twitched. Well, now I know what that feeling was.

"...." Karin scowled, and adjusted her glasses.

"Heh, I think I know why. You just wanted to be alone with Sasuke, didn't you?" Suigetsu asked, giving a grin.

"...Shut up." Karin muttered.

Heehee, bullseye. "Ha, you just wanted to do what you did to him a few years back...Remember whe-" Suigetsu began to say.....

...But it's hard to talk when you just got your liquidy head kicked off.

"I SAID SHUT UP!" Karin screamed, kicking Suigetsu in the side repeatedly.

"OW! OW! HEY, YOU *****, STOP IT! OUCH! I WON'T SAY ANYTHING!" Suigetsu shouted.

Juugo stared back at the bickering duo, and sighed. "Can't we go anywhere without you two fighting? You know, they say that when a guy and girl fight all the time, it's because they love each other, but have too much pride to admit it, so they fight to cover it up."

Both Suigetsu and Karin went red, and stopped talking.

Juugo had a hood on, that not only covered his head from the rain, but the natural shadow it produced covered the grin that split across his face. Heh Heh. Bullseye.

Sasuke smiled, but then grew a serious expression as he activated his sharingon. He spun around, and made hand seals. "SUMMONING TECHNIQUE: A THOUSAND SHURIKEN!" He shouted, as a thousand shuriken appeared, and shot at a tree, each one making a 'schurch' as they hit human flesh.

Suigetsu frowned. "...?!"

Sasuke stared at the body that fell, and his eyes widened. "...! Wh-What the hell...?!"

(with Sakura and co)

Sakura frowned, and stopped running on the path that they were taking. "Hey, uh, guys? Something just occured to me. The Mist village....isn't it a place that's like, really violent and stuff?"

Shikamaru frowned. "Up until recently, when the Mist village got a new leader. He changed everything, including the violent ways of the village. So, we should be fine."

Gaara nodded, sitting on a sand platform. "Indeed. Anyway, it would be best if we kept up our guard the whole time that we're there."

"...Got it." Sakura said, going back into a run. Thoughts started entering her head, and one enlightened her.

What if...Naruto's in the mist village? She thought, a smile growing on her face. If he is....then I'm coming for you.

Neji activated his byakugan, and started looking around at his environment as they entered a part of the path that was over a large bridge. He frowned, and stopped once they got on the bridge. "Hey guys, we've got company."

Sakura spun around, and both of her fists glowed blue with chakra. "How much company are we talking about?"

Neji closed his eyes, and when he opened them, his byakugan grew a second pupil inside the first one, and more veins grew around his eyes. "Hmm....I count....about 300."

"That's not that bad." Sakura said, smiling.

"You didn't let me finish." Neji said, a sweat drop going down his cheek. "There are 300,000."

Sakura froze, and frowned. "....Oh....crap." She muttered.

Shikamaru looked around, and saw the water ripple, and then the 300,000 ninja all burst from the water. "HOLY ****! YOU WEREN'T KIDDING!" He shouted, making hand signs as the ninja landed all around them in a large mob circle.

"....Who are you guys?" Gaara asked, frowning. "I'm the Kazekage- you wouldn't want to attack me."

One of the ninja thinned his eyes- all of them were wearing full body gear and masks. "We really don't care who you are. You can't enter the Rain village unless you have permission from Pein-sama."

Sakura scowled. "BULL****! WE TOOK DOWN PEIN FIVE YEARS AGO!"

The ninja froze, and shuddered. "You....monster...PEIN WAS OUR LEADER! OUR GOD! AND YOU KILLED HIM?!" Well, it explains why we haven't been getting orders...

"HE WAS EVIL! HE WANTED TO KILL ALL OF THE JINCHUURIKI AND USE THE BIJUU AS WEAPONS!" Sakura shouted, leaping to the ninja, and barely tapping him with her knuckle. It was enough of an impact to sent the man spiraling into the water below, and causing a 50 foot wave to form from the impact.

The other ninja roared, and charged at the small group of eight.

Gaara scowled, and watched the ninja come towards him, and he raised his hands- tons upon tons of sand rose up from the earth around the bridge. He lowered it to cover some of the ninja, and slammed his fist into the ground. "MASSIVE SAND IMPLOSION!" He shouted, as the sand hardened to make it harder than even diamond.

The rest of the ninja, however, had already started to attack, and within a matter of seconds, the mass numbers overtook the small group- until the army of ninja suddenly stopped, shivered as a whole, and stood back.

Sakura raised an eyebrow, and turned to see what they were all staring at.

It was a man, maybe 30, standing at the edge of the bridge. He had auburn hair, a bunch of piercings, and a twisted grin on his face. "Hello, Haruno Sakura."

Sakura froze in fear. Pein cheated death.

Yet again.

(back with Sasuke and co)

Sasuke was running at full speed towards the Mist village.

"YO! SLOW DOWN, I HAVE A HUGE SWORD SLOWING ME DOWN!" Suigetsu shouted.

"THEN DITCH THE SWORD! WE GOTTA GET TO THE MIST VILLAGE, PRONTO!" Sasuke shouted back, eyes hardened in anger.

He remembered the corpse that fell from the tree.

It was wearing an Akatsuki robe.

How is Akatsuki back?! I thought Naruto, Sakura and I wiped them out! There's just no way that they could be back! At least that guy didn't look like any of the Akatsuki members I knew.

Juugo scowled, and stopped running. "Sasuke...please....slow down...I'm beat, we've been running non-stop for the past few hours, at top speed...Remember, I'm not at my best right now."

Sasuke sighed- indeed, Juugo was having it rough lately, especially with what had happened a few months back. "...Fine." He said, slowing down.

Suigetsu fell on the ground, panting. "GAAHHHHhhh....xP"

Karin scowled. "...Wuss."

"OH YEAH?! YOU TRY RUNNING WITH A 100 POUND SWORD!" Suigetsu shouted. "OHHH, OF COURSE, YOU CAN'T! YOUR FAT ASS IS HEAVY ENOUGH!"

Juugo slapped his forehead, and gripped his stomach. "Guys. Start fighting again, and I'll make sure you stop. Permanatly."

Karin shivered- Juugo's tone freaked her out. Geez...I know he's been in a mood ever since that happened, but...this is just plain scary....

Suigetsu nodded. "Okay, we'll stop....."

Sasuke stared up at the sky again, and sighed. What the hell is going on....? This is so....weird... He thought, turning when he heard rustling in the bushes next to him. "...?" He walked towards the bush, and shouted out in shock when a figure burst out, sword in hand, and tackled him to the ground.....

Sasuke scowled as he fell to the ground. This day just keeps getting worse.. He thought, kicking his attacker off of him.

"Who the heck are you?!" Sasuke asked, pulling out his sword.

"..." The ninja simply stood in front of Sasuke. He was wearing a suit that covered his face and body.

Tch...He's not gunna talk, eh? I guess I'll just make him talk. Sasuke thought. He stood up, spun his sword until it was in the right position for his fighting stance. "Bring it on." He said, sword glowing with lightning.

The ninja entered an odd stance, and dashed at Sasuke, sword spinning fast enough to make a loud screech as it sliced through air. He slid, and sliced Sasuke's knee open. He spun, and kicked Sasuke in the chest a couple of times before spiraling again and entering the same stance he was in before.

....! He's so fast...! Sasuke thought as he activated his sharingon. "Time to get serious." He said, charging at the other ninja. He sliced at him, but the sound of metal hitting metal confirmed that he missed. He sidestepped, made a few handsigns, and took in a deep breath.

"FIRE STYLE: PHOENIX FLOWER TECHNIQUE!!!" Sasuke shouted, shooting a bunch of fireballs at the ninja, who simply sidestepped to avoid them all. This guy is really ticking me off... Sasuke thought, taking a deep breath in and then shooting out a massive dragon of flame.

"SECRET UCHIHA STYLE TECHNIQUE: DRAGON'S DEN!" He shouted, as the dragon smashed into the other ninja.

"....Did you get him...?" Suigetsu asked, raising an eyebrow. I can feel the heat from that flame all the way over here....wow...

Sasuke nodded. "I think-" He began, gasping when he saw the ninja standing in place, unscathed. "-not....." He finished. There's no way he dodged that! It's IMPOSSIBLE to dodge! He thought, sneering at the ninja, who appeared to be enjoying this.

The ninja sheathed his sword, and raised an eyebrow, giving a look that said, 'Is that all?'

Sasuke scowled, and shot a huge fireball into the air, making thunderclouds appear. "NOW....DISAPPEAR WITH THE THUNDER!" He shouted, making a huge dragon of lightning. "KIRIN!!!!"

The entire surrounding area exploded- the rest of Sasuke's team were uninjured because Juugo had created a shield of chakra.

Sasuke panted, and grinned. "That takes care of that." He said, turning around. He took a few steps, and gasped when he heard the sound of a chidori. He turned around, and saw the ninja simply standing, hand glowing with electricity.

Still unharmed.

"...!"

(with Sakura and co)

Sakura scowled as Pein approached them.

"What? Are you not happy to see me?" Pein asked, snapping his fingers. His other five bodies appeared. "Well, let me rephrase that. Are you not happy to see US?"

"..." Sakura's fist began glowing. "You...are going to die...right here, right now!" She said, charging at Pein. In an instant, she was flicked to the other side of the bridge. "....?!" He just...flicked me...!

Neji sighed, and entered a fighting stance.

"Please, Konoha ninja! When did I say I wanted to fight? As far as I know, my plans to destroy everything by using the Biju is impossible." Pein said.

"...What do you mean....?" Gaara asked.

"Heh heh heh....Well, Uzumaki Naruto...has died." Pein explained, a grin growing across his face.

Neji's byakugan disappeared, and a sweat drop fell down his forehead. "...What...?! Naruto's...dead?" He asked, hands trembling.

"Indeed he is. And, it was me who killed him." Pein said. "He never saw it coming."

Gaara scowled, and a bunch of sand spiraled around him. "For your sake, you better be lying."

Pein grinned, and waved his hand. "I'm not. Now, get away from my village. You'll have to go where ever you're going by a different route."

Neji sneered, and activated his byakugan again. "YOU THINK WE CAN JUST LEAVE AFTER HEARING THAT?!" He asked, thrusting his palm forward at Pein. "EIGHT TRIGRAMS EMPTY PALM!!"

Pein was blasted back a few hundred feet, and then crashed into a building.

Neji ran in to the village, but fell to the ground after the other five Peins threw Demon Wind Shuriken at him.

Gaara scowled, picked up Neji using his sand, and then made a few handsigns. "Sandstorm." He muttered, as the wind started picking up, and then started shooting sand all over the place.

An excellent get-away trick.

Gaara had taken them to a hotel about three miles away in a matter of seconds.

"Whoa...! How'd you do that?" Shikamaru asked.

"It's an easy trick. I can teleport to wherever I've been before- taking other people along is just as easy." Gaara explained, sweating heavily. "It just takes a toll on me, and I can only teleport people about 5 miles before I'm completly out of chakra."

Shikamaru nodded, and stared at Sakura, who was out cold. "...Must have been a hard flick."

Gaara nodded, and entered the hotel to get a room so they could rest for a while.

(back with Sasuke)

The ninja's hand was screeching with eletricity, and that irritated Sasuke. Not because of the noise, but because the darned ninja was still alive. "You...how the heck did you make it through that?!"

The ninja's hand lost the electricity, and he closed his eyes. "Because," He said in an oddly high pitched voice, "I have these." He finished, eyes opening.

Sasuke's eyes widened, and he was suddenly breathless. "Those are..."

"...Sharingon." The ninja finished for him.
